Jackass Penguins.

I am damn damn damn saddened by the previous post.... Please people, spread the news of this all around. Raise awareness. Tell people about SOS. For unity is strength!

Ok today I shall talk about this animal called the Jackass penguin. Also known as the black-footed penguin.

Here are some things you probably didnt know....

1] there are 18 species of penguins.

2] the shortest penguin is the fairy penguin. [41cm tall]

3] the tallest penguin is the emperor penguin. [1.1m]

4] More than half of the penguin species are found in places that seldom, if never, snows. Contrast the belief that penguins live in cold icy areas.

Ok now about this particular penguin we are talking about now. The jackass penguin...

1] it got it's name from its call, which sounds like a jackass or donkey braying.

2] It inhabits the coastal waters of South Africa. Though it's the only penguin species there. But think! Penguins in Africa!

3] Jackass penguins looks for food daily and as many as 3000 penguins may be one area. [cool right?]

BUT THESE PENGUINS ARE IN PERIL.

They are now hunted for food and oil to the extent that they are completely wiped out from Robben Island in South Africa. On the bright side, they were reintroduced to the island 180 after they went extinct.

People get the eggs of these penguins. Although it has been made illegal since 1968, but oh no one cares a damn and this is still going on.

What's more, oil pollution that are worsening and newly introduced animals such as the feral cats are threating the penguins even more. Especially the cats for they prey heavily on this penguins for food.

What I dont get is, who exactly does the "introducing of new animals" to the island? If it's humans, then why did they introduced the cats after they introduced the penguins to the island?

More reasons on why these penguins are becoming extinct....

* Harvesting of eggs for human consumption.

* Reduction of the penguin's food supply by commercial fishing.

* Oil pollution from oil tankers. This could devastate the major colonies. Oil tankers may illegally clean out their tanks as they pass round the Cape to fill up with oil in the middle east.

* Large-scale removal of guano in the 19th century has decreased the ability of penguins to construct nests through burrowing. This has led to increased competition for breeding space with larger animals such as seals. Penguins breeding on the mainland are vulnerable to mainland predators not found on islands, such as leopards, genets and domestic dogs and cats, and also to human disturbance unless the colonies are adequately fenced and patrolled.

NO SENSE AT ALL!!!! and they do this to attract tourists. whoever thought of this sick advertising idea deserves to be hanged. no, thats is not enough. he/she should experience the pain and suffering that they forced on those innocent seals. letting them die is too easy for them. and the people who kill them are just pure evil. seriously. how can they do this with a sane mind? and the tourists who pay to watch it ... in some way, they are as bad as the killers as they are the ppl who are sponsoring the killing and encouraging it. pls, i beg anyone who goes to any countries to watch this for fun/entertainment, stop it now. if u havent, dun even start.

i received teh pictures from pearl . its just outrageous. i have included some other animal's pics in the midst of the seal's pics, so as to show other animals suffering abuse at our hands. our hands.filled with the stench of blood. if some humans can be so heartless, im ashamed of humankind. i really am. this makes no sense at all. pls, ppl, pls stop this. these animals didnt do anything . except for a peaceful existence. so pls, whoever is doing this, if you read this now, pls, stop it.

Teacher's Day Performance

Since so far our members are all fellow Dunmanians, I would like to ask something.

If you have been paying attention to our morning announcments, [which I shall assume you are]u should know that our school is opening auditions for students to perform during the Teachers' Day Celebrations. And I was thinking if we would want to put an item to introduce S.O.S to more people.

But then I have to consider certain factors too. Some of members may be unwilling to perform on stage. Totally understood. But if there ARE members that would wanna perform please tag yr suggestions before the 12th of August.

Another factor would be how would we present ourselves to the public? Sure, we are a bunch of teenagers trying to help those we need help. But another question would be how would you guys do that? And what do you guys want with more members?

I shall honestly admit, I dont have much of an answer. But what I could tell you is this. We are starting small. Let's just first help raise awareness of what both people and animals around us are suffering from. Then maybe with more members, we could progress to really helping out. Maybe in small ways first, but still....

Members, please improve my kinda pathetic answer.

okay, first thing, apologise to sammie because i misunderstood her. and secondly, try not to order this kind of food. well, of course we still need out poultry but what i mean is that we certainly can try to reduce eating animals that are going endangered or not so...erm...normal??? like example chicken or pork.
secondly, the world is just so contradicting. you just can't please both sides. so while we are trying to help people, we have to sacrifice the poor animals. while trying to help the poor animals, wehave to sacrifice the human. of course there is a win win solution for every problem. obviously those who force them to predate the animals are in the wrong & we can do something in that area. of course not us, 13 yr olds i mean but someone out there must be willing to, just that we don't know. or maybe someone who read our posts and is capable at that may help? we never know even if they really went to the extent.
well...actually i think, the most powerful is still the government. they can set bans or anything to stop those activities. but if they are not as motivated as us then i think it's quite a pity. because they have the authority anyway...so they should make use of it.

firstly, i think pearl misunderstood my meaning. what i meant was that if u had already bought the food and cooked it, then u shld eat it. but if the animal's dead and it is not cooked, then dont buy it. simple enough. but then, theres still the dilemmaof the seller's livelihood. some poeple are forced to sell dead squid and such animals for a livelihood because they cannot find a job. if nobody buys the food from them, then they and their families wont be able to survive. in this more and more practical society, its hard to ghet a job without at least a degree. even if you want to be a hawker, you need money. as for cleaners and odd-job labourers, they are not always available. just like a coin, a matter always has two sides. sometimes, its not like we have a choice, its thecircumstances that forces us to make our choice.

erm...lets see. its my first post here since it's shout out secrets blog so i have to mind my language.
firstly. i want to disagree on one of sammie's point. she said the best way is to eat them since they are killed. i beg to differ.
since our objective is to help animals/people i think we should start with ourselves. we should stop eating them. as coach jo said, we start with ourselves before influencing others=P
and what's more. if we eat them, the emand will just increase and it won't stop forever. but if we don't eat them, they won't kill so many of them. and as time passes, maybe the business will just go extinct. which definitely is something worth celebrating. and i would really like to thank Thoughtful for his constructing & kind comments=)
we may only be students but being approved of a correct concept is very encouraging.
and replying '.' in our tagboard, i think we agree with the 'helping with yourself' statement. certainly as i had mentioned earlier i disagree with what sammie had said & hope that made sense because that also signifies that we will start with ourselves. er...i hope we will^^
and i want to apologise that we have not reached a very precise objective & motive & plan for ou actions but we will do that in near time.

well, first-i have some issues to ask and tell you people
1)firstly, its bout nigel(hes the person who has been saying that this whole blog is lame shit on the tagboard)
erm...can you tag something more constructive like Thoughtful?like, for instance, can you tell us what is so lame bout this blog? or if the reason you think that it sucks is cause it just sucks or cause of some other stupid reason then i think at leasdt now we know not to take you seriously.

2)you know the stingray question raey posted bout? the aim of this blog is to do what we can to help as many people/animals possible. so as in the case of the poor stingray(or some other animals) the only thing we can do is to eat it-dun become a vegetarian or sth like that cause it would be pointless. the animal's already dead. what we should do to help is to try to prevent other animals being hunted down for like, their body covering or other things such as these, but there are also grey areas such as hunting down animals for food. ideally, no lesser animals shld be hunted by other animals for food. but it has been happening since the dawn of time and these s also happening in the animals. perhaps it is meant to be so. maybe this world is not supposed to be ideal. but besides the basic necessities that humans need, causing unnecessary pain or taking lives is just pure cruel. but as thirteen years old, we cant really do anything to help. but just keep the spirit there, k?

PS:if you are joining cause u think that this is the latest teenager craze or sth like that, i have one word for you: SCRAM

Ok, my topic that i am so called in-charged is y must ppl self-mutilated themselves.

I just don't get y some ppl self-mutilated themselves (ppl like RAEY and tingyu)
Just cause u r troubled or u want to attract attention cause u think it is cool or wadever when u do that. Have u think how ur teachers, parents and peers will feel. Ur teacher will be disappointed with u, ur parents will be sad and heart broken, ur peers will be angry and try ways to stop u (provided ur peers do the same thing as u).

Y not just try other ways to make urselves not so sad or angry or troubled like

kick a soft toy
get a trusted friend to talk to (if u cannot find any, then find me also can cause i am so called the rubbish bin that nv tell out secrets*according to sammie* The more u say the more i take in. I will not mind at all.)
look at the mirror and think are there ways to solve it.
do other things to stop thinking of it(as in the troubles that u had in ur heart)

there are a lot more ways but these are the best few. If U don't want to tell people ur problem then i suggest option 3.

Currently, i have nothing to say as it is ur choice if u want to self-mutilate or wad. But rmb, there are ppl worst then u. Some have even more problems then u but they try hard to face it. If they can do it, y can't u.

My mum juz served stingray for dinner. & I cried. Cried as in gt tears come out. Wah lau to me sia.

Anyway, I was juz thinking. If you were for a dinner or sth & they served shark fin to you, will you eat it?

Some might say: "NO! Think about the poor sharks!"

Some might say: "I dun approved of ppl killing sharks for their fins then throwing their bloody body back to sea. But if you dun eat them, they will throw the food away. So why let the shark die in vain?"

Ok came across this advert/poster when walking across my school's canteen today. It's a 30 hr famine camp. I think it's for helping the AIDS patients or sth. I am interested in joining but I wont want to join alone lah. I will try to get the details and post it up soon.

So far so good. Juz coz we are young doesnt mean we cnt do anything you noe. Though so far we are like talking cock or juz or talk no action but we really want to do our part and make a difference.

Do you people actually know just how lucky you are? thousands of people and animals out there are suffering and dying because nobody could care less. And don't give me the its-none-of-my-business-so-i-wont-give-a-care-bout-it attitude. How would you feel if you were born a political prisoner and has known nothing but torture and suffering to the extent of treating it as normal life? How would you feel if you were doing nothing but minding your business and suddenly, you are killed in the most gruesome way possible just because some part of your body can be sold for money? theres only one word for it: cruel

there is a natural justice in this world and though others may not abide by it, we should. money is important but it will never be as precious as a life. that mysterious spark that spells life is extinguished just because of some paper notes that have a few numbers on it. how stupid and senseless is that? i really want the plight of the children and animals who suffered at the hands of humans to be known. why should these children be treated differently just because they are born in a different corner of the earth? arent they humans? arent they lifes? next time you look at a photograqph of them, remember: this could be you . its just a game of fate.

so open your eyes and try to do your part.
